By retaining rainwater and increasing green areas, the TecGarden® system allows you to add points, either to obtain a sustainability seal or to generate financial compensation for a costly grant.

For nearly a decade, self-erecting slab gardens have been used in residential, commercial and industrial developments designed to reduce environmental impacts. This constructive solution, based on the innovative use of raised floor boards made from recycled raw material, allows the rainwater to be stored for reuse in irrigation. For the user, the gains are varied, from more rational use of water, through low maintenance and the pleasure of having a green landscape in the gray city.

The system is an alternative to green mulching, with the advantages of not being limited to undergrowth and allowing people to traffic around the garden. By allowing the planting of shrubs and large trees, in addition to the aesthetic gain, self-irrigating gardens contribute to the reduction of pollutants in suspension.

USEFUL AREA GAIN

Generally, whenever there is a waterproof flat slab, self-erecting gardens can be applied to advantage over conventional green roofing. This is because this technology makes it possible to create underfloor reservoirs for temporary storage of rainwater.

With TecGarden® it is possible to retain about 70 liters / m² in the space created between the waterproofed slab and the substrate.

LESS FLOOD

In São Paulo, the entry into force of the Zoning Law (No. 16.402 / 2016) is a further reason for choosing self-erecting gardens on slabs. The Law introduced the Environmental Quota (QA) device, which corresponds to a set of rules for the occupation of lots larger than 500 m². Each project, due to its location and characteristics, has a minimum reference value to be compulsorily reached. Exceeding this amount, the entrepreneur may receive incentives through financial discounts for onerous grant. “The idea is to encourage entrepreneurs to invest in solutions that contribute to address part of the city’s environmental problems,” says Marcelo Fonseca Ignatios, project structuring superintendent of SP-Urbanismo, a public company that develops urban planning actions for the city. São Paulo City Hall.

According to Ignatios, the self-irrigating gardens can increase the score and, consequently, the financial incentive to the entrepreneur, because it retains rainwater and allows the planting of tree species of different sizes. “With Quota Ambiental, an environment has been created where everyone wins. Developers will be financially stimulated, new technologies for services and products will be encouraged, there will be improved occupant well-being and public administration will decrease in the medium and long term, direct and indirect costs higher than the grant discount, “adds Felipe Faria, executive director of the Green Building Council Brazil.

GREEN STAMP

Self-erecting gardens also help to obtain sustainability seals for enterprises that seek this type of certification. “TecGarden® contributes to green certification by the use of recycled material (raised floor) and the reduction of drinking water for garden irrigation”, informs Ricardo Paschoal, noting that the system promotes the irrigation of gardens by capillarity, saving on average 30%. compared to sprinkler irrigation, and still does not require pumping, which demands lower energy consumption.

ADVANTAGES ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF TECGARDEN®

  • Increases green presence in urban areas and contributes to the reduction of airborne pollutants
  • Retains rainwater, minimizing deleterious flood effects
  • Use rainwater for irrigation
  • Allows the establishment of a garden with different plant species (not only grasses)
  • Adds thermal comfort to the venture and reduces heat islands
  • Extends the durability of slab waterproofing
  • It is sustainable. Uses recycled and recyclable materials
  • Add points for the Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) seal
  • In São Paulo, it contributes to obtaining financial compensation for helping the municipality deal with soil permeability problems.
  • HOW DOES TECGARDEN® WORK?
  • The retained rainwater returns by capillarity, acting as an artificial water table.
